Thank you to all the Belles who came out to our first service event of 2024! We spent the morning at the new El Àrbol Free Store in Logan Square.
El Àrbol is a mutual aid network helping refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Chicago. With this new free store, they will be able to provide free clothing, shoes and household necessities to refugees and those in the Logan Square community.
We spent the morning sorting through donations, cleaning up the room and arranging the shelves to create an organized and easy shopping experience for anyone who stops by. When we arrived, donations were sorted in large bins. By the time we left, we had set up shelves and racks, organized by children, men’s and womens’ clothing as well as by size. All donations from our winter coat drive, which we ran in October - December 2023, was given to this location. Thank you to all the generous Belles who donating winter coats last year and their time to this service day.
