Our May book club genre was a "classic" and our club voted to read The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. We had a lovely gathering last Wednesday, May 21st to discuss the book. Thank you to Kathy '84 who hosted 13 Belles and enhanced our garden theme with tea sandwiches and pasta complete with champagne and pound cake!
Some read the book for the first time and some read for the second time. A big discussion point was if this will continue to hold up as a classic and how it reads for a child versus an adult--and will future children relate? It was fun to see the numerous editions and covers since the novel has been around since 1911.
