Our September book club met on September 11 to discuss ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME, MARGARET by Judy Blume.
What an evening with Margaret and margaritas! Thank you to Megan for hosting us and serving us delicious chicken tacos and margs.
We had a very lively discussion about this book. This short book packed a punch hitting so many complex topics like puberty and religion, while also feeling timeless due to the very human experience. The movie adaptation is highly recommended and everyone added a few Judy Blume books to their reading list. So far this is one of our highest rated books this year!
We chose this book in honor of banned book week which is coming up in early October. This book has been challenged and removed from some school libraries due to frank discussions of puberty, menstruation, and sexuality, as well as its theme of religious skepticism and personal identity.
